    Employment Director

    RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree and five years’ experience in progressive roles working with persons with disabilities, plus two years of related supervisory/management experience.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Develop a system to help residents develop annual employment/vocational goals
    • Design service delivery model to ensure goals are met for each resident
    • Monitor success against goals
    • Develop report to be distributed to CEO on a quarterly basis
    • Present Employment report highlights to Board of Trustees as needed
    • Design staffing of employment to meet employment needs
      of all residents
    • Assign specific functions to Employment Staff
    • Clearly communicate with all customers (Families) regarding employment
    • Participate as active member of the LIFE Management Team
    • Regularly research available local jobs & job sites through all mechanisms & investigate for suitability for LIFE residents
    • Educate local businesses regarding the unique needs of LIFE residents
    • Train Employment Staff in job development skills
    • Investigate “internal” job opportunities for residents
    • Research potential opportunities that may serve self-sufficient “internal” businesses
    • Develop clear business plans relating to internal business opportunities
    • Present clear business plans to the CEO & Board of Trustees as needed
    • Develop internal business(es) for approved business plans
    • Help prepare residents for job opportunities through training and preparation
    • Review, update and tailor the current resume with the resident (s) as needed
    • Teach job seeking skills through classes and individual instruction
    • Assist residents in properly accepting, rejecting and/or starting a new job
    • Meet with staff for supervisory/support sessions regularly
    • Complete employee performance evaluations staff  in a  timely manner
    • Make recommendations to the CEO for change in employment status 
    • Initiate & follow through to completion on liaison with outside professionals for medical, educational, psychological, legal or other resident needs related to Employment Program
    • Oversee Community Based Day Services (CBDS) and MA Rehabilitation Commission (MRC)
    • CPR/AED, First Aid, Human Rights Training and any other such training as needed for the position. Can be obtained through LIFE after hire.

    LIFE COACH-Mashpee

    Full Time position with excellent benefits

    • To assist LD residents in fulfilling their potential by assisting them in managing their daily life skills – re: household management, cooking, personal presentation, & behavioral/social skills.

    Normal business hours with one evening activity weekly ex: Men’s Night, Football Fanatics Night; Gym Night. Weekends for special events only

    Experience with Learning Disabled Individuals a plus; Education or appropriate job experience required. Applicant must be patient, organized, excellent communication skills.

    Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record & successful CORI required

    JOB COACH-Mashpee/Hyannis/Plymouth

    Now seeking a Full Time (30-40 hours weekly) Job Coach to provide on-site counseling, training and individual instruction to LIFE residents with developmental disabilities to help them reach their full potential in the workplace.

    Applicant must be patient; outgoing and organized; have excellent verbal and written skills; enjoy working with people of different age groups and backgrounds; have the ability to support residents to help them build confidence and independence in the workplace.

    Responsibilities

    • Will service the Hyannis, Mashpee and Plymouth areas
    • Work week is five days and WILL include Saturday; will NOT include Sunday
    • Must provide resident transportation to and from employment sites. Will need to use own vehicle from time to time (will be reimbursed for mileage)
    • Must prepare the resident for the job and supply on-site engaging support
    • Must address routine communication and problem
      resolution for residents and/or with employers on job sites
    • Must document the workplace experience
    • Must conduct routine weekly checks at employment
      sites as identified by Director
    • Must function as a TEAM PLAYER with the employment Services Team
    • All other related duties as assigned

    Requirements

    High School diploma (or equivalent) with some college or technical coursework ideal; job coach training experience desired; experience with the Learning Disabled population desired, BUT we will train the right candidate.

    Must have current certification or be willing to attend training through LIFE for CPR/AED/First Aid; must be willing to attend any LIFE or DDS required/recommended training classes; valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record; must be able to pass CORI and fingerprinting as per DDS.

    Direct Care Professionals – Group Homes

    General statement of Duties and Responsibilities

    The Direct Care Professional provides direct care to physically challenged residents with learning disabilities, at Living Independently Forever, Inc., in order to maintain and improve their dignity, well-being, and safety, and to promote personal development, independence and enjoyment.

    Full Time & Part Time positions available.

    This position is eligible for a $250 Sign-on Bonus!

    The Direct Care Professional will support residents in becoming more independent in their daily living by:

    • Help plan, prepare and post a simple weekly menu.
    • Assist resident(s) with housekeeping, laundry, arrange clothing by outfit and other daily chores.
    • Assist resident(s) with self-administration of medications.
    • Assist with personal grooming and hygiene skills.
    • Assist resident(s) in preparation for their morning, evening or night routines.
    • Provide ongoing support and encouragement.
    • Review daily/weekly schedule.
    • Prepare meals and assist with transfer of items from place to place    (ie: hot and or breakable).
    • Accompany to grocery shopping and other necessary personal needs shopping.
    • Accompany resident(s) to a variety of fun activities and field trips.
    • Other duties as determined.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience and knowledge working with individuals with learning disabilities preferred.
    • Must be Medication Administration Program (MAP) Certified within six months of employment. May be obtained through LIFE.
    • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification – may be obtained after hire through LIFE.
    • Human Rights Certified – training may be obtained after hire through LIFE.
    • A valid driver’s license.
