Employment Counselor (Plymouth, MA)

The LIFE community based out of The Pinehills in Plymouth is seeking a full time Employment Counselor to work with our exceptional learning disabled residents, community employers, and employment staff to locate employment/volunteer opportunities and to match the right individual to the right position.

Must live in or around the Plymouth, MA area.

The position is Monday through Friday regular business hours. We have flexibility in exactly how that works to make it work for the candidate. After training, SOME of the position may be performed remotely. The position offers an exceptional benefits package.

Must have a positive and flexible mindset and be able to think outside the box.

Applicant must be professional, patient, outgoing and organized.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong computer skills.

Must have excellent telephone communication skills.

Must be a team player as the Employment Services team works together for the success of our residents.

Responsibilities include:
• Evaluating the client for strengths and weaknesses in suitability for a position.
• Working with client through proper training and communication to ready them for a new position with résumé preparedness, interviewing skills; work readiness skills, etc.
• Work with the Job Coaches to ensure that clients and employers are being supported in a positive manner in the job site.
• Develop schedules for clients and Job Coaches to meet the needs of the employers.
• Negotiating with potential employers to find a match position for our clients.
• Document client and employer related contacts and communications as needed
• Additional responsibilities as assigned from Directors.

Preferred Background:
• Two years of successful experience in some or all areas of marketing, recruiting or vocational services.
• Experience with adults with cognitive learning disabilities (volunteer experience counts)!
• High school diploma and some additional training or education in the field.
• We will train the right person if they possess the right skillset.
• Must be willing to attend training through LIFE for CPR/First Aid (great if you already have) and be willing to complete any LIFE or DDS required/recommended training classes.
• Maintain sanitary conditions of workspaces and vehicles; complies with LIFE guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (e.g., uses personal protective equipment, social distancing, etc.).
• Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and dependable. transportation; must be able to pass CORI and fingerprinting background checks through our governing agency (DDS).

Group Home Manager (West Yarmouth)
We are currently seeking a caring and experienced individual to join the LIFE family as a Group Home Manager for our West Yarmouth Home for 5 male adults with learning and cognitive challenges.
The Group Home Manager will oversee the clinical, financial, and administrative needs of the EXCEPTIONAL residents we serve.

This position will also ensure that proper standards and regulations are followed, and that all quality standards for the residents in the group home are being met.

Additional responsibilities include managing, scheduling, and training staff to create a team of positive and efficient professionals; working with appropriate agencies to assist and support our residents; working with the staff to assist residents in developing the skills they need to function as independently as possible within the community for self- fulfillment and happiness.

In addition, the Group Home Manager, along with the staff, works with the residents providing instruction, support, and to serve as a positive example to our residents inside the group home residence, and on errands, appointments, and activities in the community. Applicant must be able to project a positive personality and provide ongoing support, interaction, kindness, and encouragement.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education or experience with learning disabled population required.
• Management experience required.
• Ability to work with families to help these supported individuals have full and meaningful lives.
• Work schedule flexibility. Majority of shifts are Monday-Friday business hours, however a few evening and weekend shifts will be required monthly so you can manage the entire team.
• Prior work in a group home a plus.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills needed.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form with coworkers, staff, supported individuals, families, and relative agencies.
• Strong time management skills needed.

Direct Service Professional (West Yarmouth)

Part-Time or Full-Time

$15 per hour; $16 per hour on Sundays 9 AM – 9 PM

At Living Independently Forever, Inc. (aka LIFE) we are currently seeking 1 employee to work Sunday 9 AM to 9 PM: and Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5 PM to 9 PM. If you would prefer a full-time position–we can create that for you as well.

Candidate must be caring and patient as you will be working with our learning-disabled residents that reside in our lovely Group Home in W. Yarmouth. This home has active clients who we are working to get back out in the community more as the pandemic continues to stabilize. At +20 hours, we offer Holiday, Paid Time Off and Sick time benefits. Direct Service Professionals in Small Group Home (Hyannis)

36 hours a week, $15.00 per hour and $1.00 for all working hours.

LIFE is currently seeking one employee to work three 12-hour overnight shifts on Sunday 9:00 pm to 9:00 am; Monday 9:00 pm to 9:00 am and Friday 9:00 pm to 9:00 am.

Candidate must be caring and patient as this home works with our Aging in Place cognitively disabled adults in their beautiful Home in Hyannis. This home has four clients in residence. You will never find a nicer group of individuals to support.

This particular home does require some additional hands on with the residents in their personal care and ADL’s and therefore offers an additional $1.00 per hour for all hours worked. Prior PCA or CNA education or experience great, but not required.

Facilities Supervisor (Hyannis, Mashpee)

LIFE is seeking a Facilities Supervisor to oversee day to day safety and maintenance of our Hyannis and Mashpee community and group homes.

The position is approximately 30 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday. We have flexibility in exactly how that works to make it work for the candidate. Ideal schedule would be from 8:00 AM to 2PM-ish.

This position would be benefits eligible–medical, dental, life/LTD, PTO, holiday time and sick time.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills and broad knowledge of facility maintenance, such as light carpentry, painting, etc., ability to work independently; ability to determine when outside vendors should be utilized; ability to listen and patiently work around our amazing learning/developmentally disabled population. 

Position would include managing landscaping, irrigation systems, snow removal, oversight of maintenance and repair of all LIFE vehicles including registrations, inspections and accident repair.

Plan and organize LIFE annual maintenance inspections (fire sprinkler, fire extinguisher, etc.).

Maintain all standards for DDS (Department of Development Services) such as water testing, furnace and hot water heater inspections.

Participate in safety committee meetings and working with the condominium association and owners.

Available as needed for emergencies.

Position includes paid time off, holidays, and sick days. Full benefits eligible including medical, dental, life and LTD insurance.

Shared Living Provider (Multiple Locations)

Join our growing team of compassionate and reliable providers to support the wonderful individuals we serve at LIFE.

Shared Living is an arrangement available to qualified adults that is funded by The Department of Developmental Services (DDS).

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Shared Living Provider to oversee care for an individual with DDS services to reside in their home or yours, depending on the circumstances.

The Shared Living Provider would live with this young person.

In this crucial role you will:

• Help our participant to live a full and meaningful life.
• Be able to provide hands on ADL as needed.
• Continuously attend to medical needs under the Medication Administration Program (MAP) training provided.
• Drive and transport participant to appointments and activities.
• Monitor on-going medical issues.
• Take vital signs as needed.
• Assist in planning, food shopping, prep, and cooking with participant.
• Prepare paperwork for and attend appointments.
• Transport participant to appointments, and activities.

Qualifications:

• MAP Certified (Will provide training)
• First Aid & CPR Certified (Will provide training)
• Valid Driver’s License w/ reliable transportation (vehicle)
• COVID guidelines followed – PPE, etc. as required.

At LIFE (Living Independently Forever, Inc.) we are currently seeking two caring and patient individuals to join the LIFE family as a Direct Care Professional (DCP) providing instruction, support, and to serve as a positive example to our active young adult clients with learning and cognitive disabilities. 
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist and maintain the health and safety of the individual.
  • Individual rights and program planning
  • Attend and participate in group social activities.
  • Complete required documentation/daily case notes.
  • Assist with activities of daily living as required.
  • Assist with household chores as required.
  • Assist with menu planning and meal preparation as required.
  • Provide transportation as required.
  • Assist with individual budgeting or spending as needed.
  • Assist the individual with accessing health services as needed.

You will be working in a variety of locations between the mid-and upper Cape Cod (Falmouth to Dennis). A valid driver’s license is required with an acceptable driving record and reliable and insured vehicle (mileage is reimbursed).

Full-time position is Monday-Friday 12PM-8PM with one weekend shift monthly; Part-time position is Monday-Friday 3PM-8PM with one weekend shift monthly. 

Applicant must project a positive and patient personality and provide ongoing support, interaction, and encouragement to our clients. Our staff are always role models to our clients. Must be able to work as a team and independently.
