Current Openings:

Maintenance Manager (Hyannis, Mashpee)

Payrate starting at $23 hour, 25-30 hours weekly (flexibility available)

The Maintenance Manager will oversee day to day safety and maintenance of our Hyannis and Mashpee community and the group homes. The position is approximately 30 hours per week, primarily Monday-Friday. The office for this role is in the Hyannis community.

The LIFE Maintenance Manager must: 

  • Live in or around the Cape Cod area
  • Have strong organizational and communication skills
  • Have broad knowledge of facility maintenance such as light carpentry, painting, etc., ability to work independently, and ability to determine when outside vendors should be utilized
  • Have the ability to listen and patiently work around our amazing adults with intellectual disabilities and autism
  • Be willing to jump in as needed for emergencies – plumbing issues, safety issues, appliance issues, etc. either personally or virtually walk staff through until it can be properly addressed
  • Be aware that on-call is needed for emergency situations
  • Possess the ability to manage and/or perform landscaping, irrigation systems and snow removal.
  • Have oversight of maintenance and repair of all LIFE vehicles including registrations, inspections, and accident repair

Plan and organize LIFE annual maintenance inspections including fire sprinkler, fire extinguisher, etc.

Maintain all standards for DDS (Department of Development Services) such as water testing, furnace and hot water heater inspections.

Participate in safety committee meetings and working with the condominium association and owners.

COVID-19 considerations: wearing a disposable mask at all times is required unless alone in a closed-door office or socially distanced outside.

Position includes PTO, Holidays, sick days, access to LIFE 403B Retirement Plan, and if working 30 hours-Medical, Dental, and Life/LTD Insurance options.

Shared Living Provider (Multiple Locations)

Join our growing team of compassionate and reliable providers to support the wonderful individuals we serve at LIFE.

Shared Living is an arrangement available to qualified adults that is funded by The Department of Developmental Services (DDS).

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Shared Living Provider to oversee care for an individual with DDS services to reside in their home or yours, depending on the circumstances.

The Shared Living Provider would live with this young person.

In this crucial role you will:

• Help our participant to live a full and meaningful life.
• Be able to provide hands on ADL as needed.
• Continuously attend to medical needs under the Medication Administration Program (MAP) training provided.
• Drive and transport participant to appointments and activities.
• Monitor on-going medical issues.
• Take vital signs as needed.
• Assist in planning, food shopping, prep, and cooking with participant.
• Prepare paperwork for and attend appointments.
• Transport participant to appointments, and activities.

Qualifications:

• MAP Certified (Will provide training)
• First Aid & CPR Certified (Will provide training)
• Valid Driver’s License w/ reliable transportation (vehicle)
• COVID guidelines followed – PPE, etc. as required.

Job Coach (Plymouth, MA)

$1,000 Signing Bonus ($500 at 3 months, $500 at 6 months. Must average 20 hours weekly.)

$15 per hour, part-time or full-time positions

The LIFE community based out of The Pinehills and Harborwalk in Plymouth is seeking a Full Time or Part-time JOB COACH to provide counseling, training, and individual instruction to our wonderful LIFE clients to help them reach their full potential through workplace training in their workplaces that are located throughout the Plymouth area.

  • Must live in or around the Plymouth, MA area.
  • Employment type can be full-time or part-time. The position is generally Monday through Friday regular business hours, however one weekend day is required if seeking full-time employment. We can be somewhat flexible around your weekday needs.
  • A full-time position offers an exceptional benefits package.

Responsibilities include:

  • Be outgoing and organized.
  • Have excellent verbal and training skills; some computer skills needed.
  • Enjoy working with people of different age groups, cultures, and abilities.
  • Be able to build confidence and independence in our clients in the workplace.
  • Provide resident transportation to and from employment sites. Will need to use personal vehicle much of the time (employees are reimbursed for mileage)
  • Must have the stamina to be present in the varied workplaces with the client to provide proper job coaching support.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions of workspaces and vehicles; continually works with clients to encourage their understanding and compliance with LIFE guidelines and their workplace guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (e.g., uses personal protective equipment, social distancing, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Patience and kindness
  • Experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality or training background excellent.
  • Experience with the population we work with excellent, but we will train the right candidate. (Volunteer work counts!)
  • Must be 18 years old with a high school diploma (or equivalent) — some college or technical coursework, or personal experience is ideal.
  • Professionalism.

Must have current certification or be willing to attend training through LIFE for CPR/First Aid (great if you already have) and be willing to complete any LIFE or DDS required/recommended training classes.

Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and dependable transportation; must be able to pass CORI and fingerprinting background checks through our governing agency (DDS).

Case Manager/LIFE Coach (Plymouth)

LIFE is growing again and is hiring a full-time Case Managers/LIFE Coach to assist our wonderful and active residents to fulfill their independent potential by supporting them in managing their daily life skills (money management, household management, shopping, menu planning, cooking, personal presentation and hygiene, appropriate behavioral and social skills, travel arrangements, transportation needs, medical appointments, entertainment, etc.).

Experience (paid or volunteer) and/or education in human services a plus.

This full-time position is primarily regular weekday hours; however, two weekday evenings (no overnights) and one weekend day are required. Flexibility is available depending on how the schedule needs of our individuals are met.

Your skills:

  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and good computer skills.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work with the entire team to the benefit of our clients.
  • Experience with Human Services and/or Learning Disabilities a plus, but not required. If you have good relationship skills, we will train you! (Special Olympics experience is valued.)

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist, organize, and facilitate activities within a hybrid group home for three young women.
  •  Assist the residents with meeting their goals and objectives in apartment maintenance, personal health maintenance, nutrition, fitness and social skills development.
  •  Assist the residents with grocery shopping and preparing healthy meals safely.
  •  Participate in team-related services; staff meetings, resident/roommate issues, resident case reviews with staff and/or family, etc.
  • Complete routine documentation after every session or significant communication with residents.
  • Make recommendations to meet the needs of residents that are beyond the scope of the LIFE Coach (i.e., medication adjustments, therapy by licensed clinician, private tutor, house cleaner, etc.).
  • Maintain sanitary conditions of workspaces and vehicles; complies with LIFE guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (i.e. uses personal protective equipment, social distancing, etc.).

Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and dependable transportation. Must be able to pass CORI and fingerprinting background checks through our governing agency (DDS).

  • Social service work experience highly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree OR 3+ years of directly related experience required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist assigned residents with the management of their bills and finances–overall money management.
  • Assist assigned residents with medical appointments and medication organization and proper documentation.
  • Meets individually with assigned residents, provide assessment of strengths and needs in all areas, and writes appropriate objectives and goals (ISP’s).
  • Assures adequate attention is given to skill and growth in all aspects of the resident’s life and helps prioritize areas of emphasis in conjunction with the Employment team.
  • Participates in team-related services; DDS meetings, staff meetings, housemate issues, case reviews with staff and/or family etc.
  • Plans, organizes and facilitates resident activity two evenings weekly.
  • Role models appropriate behavior and encourages residents in leading a healthy and active lifestyle including all Covid-related precautions.
  • Writes service reports as routine documentation after every session or significant communication with residents.
  • Makes recommendations to meet needs of residents which cannot or should not be provided by the LIFE Coach. Example: medication, therapy by licensed clinician, private tutor, house cleaner, etc.
  • Focus all interactions towards helping the residents increase their independence and the quality of their day to day LIFE.

Must have current certification or be willing to attend training through LIFE for CPR/AED/First Aid and any LIFE or DDS required/recommended training classes.

Valid driver’s license required with acceptable driving record and dependable transportation; must be able to pass CORI and fingerprinting as per DDS.
