Group Effort

The chemistry between housemates is important in any situation, never mind during a pandemic that has them together around the clock.

At Maccini Group Home in Falmouth, house manager Rosemarie Gagnon said it was beautiful to watch the bonds that formed among the five residents living there.

“I can’t say enough about their resilience. Everything they knew as normal was pulled out from underneath them, but they rallied and made the best of it. They got closer, bonded more with each other and staff and became more considerate of one another.”

Because the community-based day supports and employment programs were on hold, staff and residents found creative ways to stay busy, from exercise DVDs to art and crafts, walks and music, to learning new skills such as baking.

Maccini is one of a number of group homes offered by LIFE that are designed for individuals requiring additional supports, helping them toward greater independence in all areas of life. They receive 24/7 staff support, access to the LIFE community and facilities and a busy social calendar. Nursing and clinical support are also available.
