New Year, New Workout Challenge
Category – Life Blog
By Amanda Church
To kick off 2021, Kim Cassim, LIFE’s Head Trainer and Wellness Coordinator, created a new fitness challenge for residents at all LIFE communities. During her 150-minute Workout Challenge, everyone must commit to working out three times a week with LIFE fitness trainers by Zoom or by appointment in the gym. Each LIFE trainer has a different workout style which is fun for everyone.
As soon as Kim starts her workout with participants at 10:00 AM on Zoom, it makes you want to move and groove, just like Earth Wind & Fire’s “Let’s Groove” song!
Kim’s workout features three to four rounds of different exercises. These exercises include push-ups, heel touches, planks, shoulder taps, and leg lifts. The workout also includes walking or jogging in place. (It’s like you’re walking or jogging on a treadmill, but you are walking or jogging from your unit or house.)
I feel like I am getting stronger by the minute while I do the challenge.
After we complete the exercises, Kim ends the workout with stretching and some relaxing breathing exercises. It is always good to stretch before and after a workout, especially with Kim’s workout!!!
It is also essential to drink a lot of water before and after any workout. One of my favorite parts of this new challenge is being around my peers. Kim even has her fun moments where she adds her sense of humor to the workout.
I encourage every LIFE resident and staff to try Kim’s new challenge. Working out with Kim makes me feel better about myself, and I feel like I am one step closer to achieving my goals.
We do not know what new workout challenges the LIFE Fitness team has in store for us, but whatever they are, I hope everyone takes advantage of the opportunity to try them.
