An important component of the LIFE community is the fitness and wellness program.

We believe that a healthy lifestyle leads to a greater sense of well-being and a happier life. Each LIFE community has a fitness center with a variety of fitness equipment, including treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, padded floor mats, large-screen TVs, and music to enhance workouts.

LIFE employs a full-time certified fitness staff to facilitate a wide variety of recreational activities and fitness challenges.

Individuals are invited to participate in sports and games focused on fitness, mindfulness, and group recreational activities. LIFE individuals enjoy walking on the beautiful local beaches, biking, rollerblading, on-site basketball games, and participating in mindfulness and yoga classes. We have a lot of fun while getting (and staying) in shape!

LIFE’s Supported Independent Living (SIL) programs also offer nutrition and cooking classes to educate individuals on healthy food choices and meal preparation. Individuals frequently gather in our community kitchens to socialize and prepare meals together.

LIFE offers one of the largest and most successful Special Olympics program in the state.

With year-round training, LIFE competes in the Special Olympics Massachusetts basketball, bowling, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field programs. All LIFE individuals are welcome to join this program led by LIFE’s Fitness Coaches in our Cape Cod and Plymouth, MA supported independent living programs.

The LIFE Force soccer team advanced to the national Special Olympics USA Games and won a bronze medal for Team Massachusetts in 2022 after a series of playoffs in Florida, against other Special Olympics state teams. LIFE individuals also participate independently in fitness events, including city marathons.
