Incorporated in 1992, LIFE opened a first-of-its-kind Supported Independent Living program for 10 adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in Hyannis in 1993.
By 1996, the Hyannis location more than doubled in physical size and the number of individuals served. The Hyannis SIL currently serves 45 individuals, including campus and off-campus individuals.
The community is located in a quiet neighborhood close to shops, restaurants, beautiful beaches, nature trails, and public transportation. Hyannis is a lively and active community with an on-site gym, recreation room, community kitchen, and outdoor pavilion, which frequently hosts shared meals, dance parties, and social gatherings.
