Shared Living

Shared Living provides a supported living environment within a private home of a family, couple or individual.

Shared Living Providers offer safety, comfort, and supports in the areas of meal preparation, transportation, socialization, and medication administration. Shared Living offers the individual with a caring, home-like environment, and the provider the opportunity for meaningful work in a non-traditional setting. Nursing and clinical support are available for shared living participants.

Share Living individuals enjoy group activities, such as community meals with LIFE Group Home individuals, social outings to the local beaches, and fun holiday gatherings.  

Many of individuals in Shared Living also participate in LIFE employment services and community-based supported services (CBDS) programs.

Additionally, individuals are active in LIFE’s Special Olympics programs, based on availability.

“I’m happier, more confident, and excited about what’s ahead, including greater independence and working toward getting my driver’s license. I love living with my shared living providers. They help me schedule visits with my grandparents and make plans with my family.

I have an active social life with a close-knit group of friends. We enjoy fun gatherings, beach days, and a weekly community meal with home-cooked dishes inspired by cuisines from around the world.

Working with my LIFE Job Coach, I learned how to prepare for a job interview and independently use apps to arrange rides to work. Now I work as a Retail Associate at a local Kohl’s store, where I engage with customers, restock merchandise, and help customers sign up for the store rewards programs.”
